Keeping a Stiff Upper Lip

I darn near didn't get out of bed this am. There must be a glitch with the hot water heating system in our overgrown apartment building I fondly refer to as "Faulty Towers."

It was so cold, I put a pan of water in the oven, left the door open and turned on a fan to move that heat into the apartment, then went back to my warm bed for a half an hour to let it all work its magic.

This is the time of year to watch for those sudden dipping temperatures. And if you live in the true north like I do, practicing a bit of the pioneer spirit will keep you a comfortable survivor.

One good thing about Canuks. We seldom complain in the winter. It is too darned cold to chatter out the appropriate words. If you can't look, see and feel for yourself, we have an on-call undertaker waiting to help you thaw out enough to lie down.

Stay warm, stay real and
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to All.

Christmas - Safety First

We'll keep this issue short in keeping with the time and Christmas season.

It is bad enough that we stuff electrical connection after electrical connection into one surge protector and hope we do not blow our computers skywards.

Now with the added electrical needs burden, adding a christmas tree and special ornaments becomes a greater danger.

Buy lots of good surge protectors. Separate all those electrical plugs into many of them and use different wall sockets to hold them.

I can think of at least three groups that could protect you from your own good intentions.

1. ALL computer connections
2. ALL television, dvd and playstation hookups in another.
3. ALL christmas tree lights and other special hookups in a third.

In most cases these three groups operate when you are up so you can oversee their safety.

Do not allow any of them to be active in this season while you are away from home and especially not while you and your family are sleeping.

God Bless

Merry Christmas from our house to your house

Be safe, be security conscious ...

See you in 2005
Chris

MIDDLE AD - Doubler Heaven

Enjoy the 'risk' of playing the odds? Nothing beats earning

WARNING - doublers are a risk at the best of times.

Peace on Earth, Good Will To Shoppers

Christmas shopping for me begins in January every year. By August it is all done, saved a fortune on price hackers who want my last dime if I shop during the season, and I never had one problem finding a suitable gift. In some cases the salesperson cut the sales price again just to move the last of their stock.

I love Christmas! I love the fine spirit of folks you have never even met. The smiles, the laughter, the joy expressed by first my chldren then my grandchildren as they open each surprise package.

But I HATE Christmas shopping. I used to do it all right from late November and up to Christmas eve. Now I have workable solutions that cover all bases.

1. I do MY shopping for the things I know I want to buy, at the prices I am willing to pay, for gifts I know will be usable and appreciated anytime duriing the year I see a bargain..

2. My husband and son can do the last minute details. After all, if they are willing to get their fingers dipped into the frustration of the season, I get a rest.

Oh, there is a #3 .. the best one .. no more staying up all Christmas eve to wrap gifts. They have been done for months. [Shhhh don't tell anyone, people will think I am organized. Especially don't tell my girls who know better. ;-)) ]

From Our House to Your House

May the joys of Christmas abound.
May you enjoy peace and prosperity.

And in this time of happiness remember the less fortunate ... be part of a food basket drive, or give one less gift per person in your family to see the smiles on a young child's face who might not have had a Christmas without your generosity.

Be safe, God Bless and see you Next year!

Fran & Chris Kalasinski and families.
