No More Losing Firefox Bookmarks

This was the last straw, either I conquer this major quirk of
firefox or I shoot myself. Losing my bookmarks is still not
quite enough reason to go back to using IE6 though it can
be close some days.

Perhaps it was the shock setting in. Perhaps it was the simple
frustration of knowing I had to enter every traffic creating
group, every link I use to shortcut to my working business
programs - you know the drill - that helped me find the secret.

Firefox itself stores all your bookmarks here:

C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

What I found when I imported them into my newly updated
version of firefox, is that the originals did not all hold and some
were corrupted. Nevertheless, this method will at least bring
back what you thought was lost and enable you to correct
them and then use the following method to protect them in
the future.

I Earn 'Das Boot"

If you own a good size foot size, will you please contact me
and offer to provide a swift kick to the nether regions? The
answer is so simple. I cannot believe it.

We all create and save files day after day and never give it
a second thought. That is the secret to saving our firefox
bookmarks.

Here's How

Open firefox browser
Open Bookmarks
Go to Manage Bookmarks
- a nice menu table will open
Create a few empty folders to hold your links
Go to file
Choose Export from the list

It will open a window that takes you to Program files\mozilla firefox
folder on your hard drive, a nice safe windows default location.

Create a name for your firefox bookmarks and save it.
It's as simple as that. Now when you download the latest
version of firefox and install it, you will not worry so much
about your bookmarks disappearing. Just be sure to save
your newly added bookmarks often as you would any new
file.

When they pull the disappearing act, all you have to do is to
do to get them back is ...

Open firefox
Open Bookmarks
Go to Manage Bookmarks
Click on Files
Choose Import
- another menu will open that says 'Import Settings and Data
From" and below it will be two choices ..
-Microsoft Internet Explorer
-From File

Choose From File
Click Next

It should take you right to your newly named firefox folder
holding all those nicely saved links. Highlight your saved file
and click on open. That is if you feel comfortable saving your
bokmarks in Programfiles\mozillafirefox\newlynamedfolder.

Your second choice and easier remembered, might be to save
it in C:\my doc~ on your hard drive or even on another drive
on your computer. In either case, it will save as 'all files',
bookmark.html which makes it easier to find.
